Budding catnip flowers

Thanks to my colleague who gave me a ride home, I managed to take some photos of the catnip today while there was still daylight. The catnip plant is now 11.5 weeks old. It's the first time in my life that I've seen budding catnip flowers, and they look amazing to me. Can't wait to see the blooms.

What's this alien thing?

Are catnip flowers pink/peach in colour??

Does the catnip plant attract cats to your place?

Hello, the very first flower bloomed this morning, and it's a white flower - so tiny that I don't think they will make much impact. :)

kxbc: Erm...there are no cats above the 20th storey to be attracted. I shall try a couple of leave on sugar soon. :)

I read about a guy who live in a house (in the west) who planted catnip, which never grow beyond several weeks because his cats kept rubbing against them! He tried all means to keep them alive, including keeping the plants in a mini green house. One day, he left the window of the green house opened (just a tiny window of the tiny green house), but that was the end of the catnip plant. Powerful stuff, eh?

Mary, that's interesting. I haven't taken much notice of the balsam plant before. Must pay more attention when I next see a balsam plant.

Aunty P, you will be surprised how intelligent and resourceful cats are. I live on the 10th floor and there is this cat which probably walked up 10 floors to take a pee in my empty flower pot. Take care of your catnip. Maybe Sugar will take the lift and vist your pot everyday. :)

Hi Suhara

I got the catnip seeds from a plant nursery (in Singapore). You can take a look at the pack of seeds in this post:

Actually, it's easier and faster to buy a pack of dried catnip from the pet supply shop. Dried catnip may work better for cats which are sensitive to catnip.
