The aftermath

Chocolate Boy has been collected and sent to the vet. My kind neigbour who helped to open the door to my home for the pet taxi to collect Cho-Boy SMS-ed me at 2pm today:

V just collected Chocolate. You'll need to wash the burberry basket coz it pooped in it.

*Sigh...*

Phyllis just called to say that Chocolate-boy has been seen by the vet who diagnosed severe flu. He is admitted for further management. My apology to Auntie P for the big mess.

It's ok, we'll manage somehow. ;)

I was about to msg you to ask about Chocolate Boy. I guess he would need antibiotics treatment.

Thanks for the update.

There is no treatment for viral infection and antibiotic is given empirically because there is nothing else to do. Hopefully his incontinence was not due to the virus spreading to his brain. We can only hope for the best now.
Anyway he is well taken care off which is important.

Dear auntie P, sorry about the mattress bedsheets burberry basket and the lost sleep. I am glad Choc-Boy was with you when he was so ill. Imagine he is all alone downstairs and some cars come by and knock him down!!

Please keep us posted.

Thank you, cat aunty.

I feel very sorry about Cho-Boy. We do like him, as he's quite adorable, even in his "gong gong" (blur blur) way. I'm somewhat relieved that he is getting full-time observation and appropriate medical care.

Sometimes gong gong cats are the cutest. :) I hope he is going to recover soon.

It won't be easy to get rid of the smell on the mattress. I sometimes use Febreeze (available in all major supermarkets) to neutralise cat odours on my sofa and it works quite well. Just don't overspray can already. You may wish to try it on the mattress.

kxbc, your suggestion came just in time!

On that night itself, the SO did some semi-dry cleaning, and dried the mattress with the hair dryer. Yesterday evening, I applied lots of deodorant (from Daiso) and let it air dry, but there is still a bit of urine smell this morning. Will try Febreeze. Thanks! :)

I am sorry to read about cho- boy. btw cho reminds me of the quidditch player in Harry Potter - the one harry was crazy about. I hope he gets well soon and i'm glad he fell sick in a loving home and not in some car park.

Dear San, actually cho-boy already caught the flu earlier and was already sniffing last Sunday, the day he came.

Well, I guess... if some gal had not called AVA, Cho-Boy would have been left peacefully in his community, and would not be sent to AVA where he was suspected of catching the virus, and he would most probably not have flu (in the car park).

Yesterday afternoon, Chocolate Boy was reported to be eating and drinking well at the vet. Thanks to Vegancat for the update.

Further updates on Chocolate Boy can be found on Vegancat's blog.

It just looks as bad as it sounded when you wrote about it. Get well soon, Cho-boy! I'll definitely try to keep up with his progress by visiting Vegancat's blog.

Does the Febreeze work?

auntie p said...

kxbc, it did work somewhat and managed to get rid of most of the urine smell.

There were 2 types of Febreeze - I bought the anti-bacteria one. Sprayed quite a lot on the urine spot, air dry and repeated the treatment. Now the mattress oozes of Febreeze, although every now and then, we can still catch a whiff of cat scent, but that can't be helped.

Thanks again for the suggestion. :)
Sugar came up today and had a field day sniffing about!

Lucky it works. Would be a shame to throw out the whole mattress.
