Chocolate Boy came to live with us last Sunday afternoon. As I wasn't going to call him by a 4-syllable name, I nicknamed him Cho-Boy, which made uncle S laugh, because it sounded like the male equivalent of Chiobu, i.e. the Ah Beng term for good-looking woman.
Saved from cat-killers in the nick of time by Vegancat, Cho-Boy came to be fostered in a single-cat household to help him get over his traumatic ordeal and to make him feel safe again.
Uncle S finds Cho-Boy very cute-looking, and affectionately calls him Tua Tao, which means 'big head' in Hokkien. :P We'll have to ask Vegancat why he thinks Cho-Boy is a 'himbo'. :)
Nice pose taken with the HP
This means that our dear community cat from downstairs, Sugar, will lose his weekend chalet which comprise of the lovely bed in our "cat room" and unlimited amounts of yummy cat snacks. Sugar had been coming to his chalet where he would do his sleep-eat-sleep-eat-sleep routine for the past couple of weekends.
Sugar: I'll be baacckk !
So far, Cho-Boy has been very well-behaved. He has a good appetite and used the litter box on his own. His litter box habits are so neat that I've counted like, only 3 pine pellets that had strayed outside the box.
He is also a gentle boy, and right on the very first day, has allowed me to trim his front claws, wipe his running nose, wipe his ears, massage his body (actually I was playing with him) and give him headbutts without fear.
The only thing he doesn't like is being carried, and he gets startled by loud/sudden noises from outside.
"Mama mia!!" Cho-Boy trying to become the window accessory?
Cho-Boy's scratch mat
No longer afraid of the camera
So relaxed, then...
He heard a noise coming from the neighbour
Shooshhh!! Gone in 5 seconds!
Cho-Boy's idea of hiding
My head is big meh?
Snooze...ZZZzzz...
Yawnzzz...
I may be big, but I'm gentle. Please take me home.
Cho-Boy has a running nose since Sunday, which I suspect kind of made him drool at times, since it was difficult for him to swallow the liquid that came out of his nose (I can understand the gross discomfort as I suffers from a sensitive, watery nose!). His right eye has started tearing last night.
Vegancat thinks he must have caught the viral infection while being kept at the AVA. So far, the liquid that runs out of his nose is clear. I shall keep monitoring Cho-Boy's condition.

It is so nice to "see" him. I have been checking on your blog often for update.
I called him a "himbo" because he was so "stewpig" to walk into any carrier!
He hissed when I pointed the camera at him when he was with Phyllis. Did he see the camera as some metal device used to "lasso" him from the office?
The coryza symptoms of runny eyes and nose is due to the lining of the nostril in response to a viral insult. With time, his body's immune system will built up antibodies to overcome the infection. Sometimes secondary infection caused by bacteria that causes breathing difficulty, thick purulent phlegm and fever may need antibiotic treatment.
He really looks like a nice big cat, like Bujang, only bigger :) he has unusual colouring too. I have never seen a cat quite this colour and markings. the Royal Canin must be helping with the odourless stools. Its 12% fat right? Like Nutro Light I think. The amigos as usual turned down their noses at it. thank goodness I got sample packages only and didn't spend money on the actual pack:)
"My" Chinky, Tua-Tou lookalike, also doesn't like to be carried. Are they in cahoot?
He really is chocolate in color, looks gong-gong too. He won't fight with Sugar?
Cho-boy is such a handsome cat! He seems very large as well. How big, may I ask, is he?
I think you have done very well, Aunty P. He might just have the sniffles because he is so grateful for your hard work in taking care of him. I hope he finds a forever home soon. :)
San: RC for indoor cats has about 14-15% fat.
Cat aunty and Mary: Hohoho...I wouldn't even risk it. Sugar will devour Cho-Boy the timid fellow.
Zeus: I haven't had the chance to weigh Cho-Boy as he doesn't like to be carried, but I guess he should be almost 5 kilos, being slimmer than Jackie who is slightly over 5kg.
Sugar is 6.5kg. The fattest cat I know of is a community cat adopted by my neighbour, at 11.8kg!
