Joyful things
This blanket is quite special to me as it was handmade by a gal friend's mom and given to me many many years ago. *Gasp!* I think it had been more than 20 years' ago!
Such handmade blankets are hard to come by nowadays, and I no longer know anyone who makes it with collected scraps of fabric. The blanket is great on cool nights when I just like to sleep with a light cover. It feels cool and upon closer inspection, one will find many patches of those cool, polyester-looking "old women's fabric" (Ah Mah borh in Hokkien) which our grandmas and Ah Mah or Ah Mmmh would use to make their blouses in the old days. We even had one Ah Mmmh relative who used to work as a Hong Tou Jin (红头巾) or the Samsui Women, i.e. those very strong woman workers who wore a red head dress while working at construction sites (yes, the early builders of our nation). She too wore blouses made of such Ah Mah borh, but I am digressing.
Snowy and me
Snowy is the one who will allow herself to be carried. Uncle S and I love to carry and cuddle her, and we have to do this everyday. So poor Snowy finds herself being carried (against her will) several times a day by the two of us.
Heheh!

Speaking of marble flooring...
In the end, I covered the half-mauled lizard with a small bucket, which is covered by a bigger bucket, just to be doubly sure the cats won't create more ruckus, turned off the lights and returned to bed. A while later, Snowy came to join me in bed, and later followed by Coco, who slept on my blanket.
In the morning, I was about to ask SO to do the honours of catching (and releasing) the lizard when I spotted some debris on the floor which looked like a mass of chewed-up-then-vomitted-out lizard!! *Shrieksss!!* The mass had the lizards tail right at the end, so it looked really like a lizard...the cat that chewed it has been sleeping so close to me on my bed... Yikes!!
Fortunately, SO took a closer look and confirmed that the vomit was cat food. One of the cats must have swallowed the broken off lizard's tail and then vomitted the chunks of cat food (I always wonder why the vomit can still maintain the shape of the kibble?!?).
By then, no amount of cleaning was able to remove the vomit stain on the marble floor. Too bad...

Coco still loves to sleep; Snowy still looking bak-bak...
Coco still maintaining her grumpy good looks...
Snowy still looking photogenic...
Last but not least, they still like to hang around foster mom.
And foster parents love to sayang them.

As Gaia turns...
This morning, finally, we saw a glimpse of the sun amidst the mist, but all too soon, it was gone. :(
Snowy decides to come between me and the pc.
Snowy: Stop it with this pc thing and look at me, look at me! I demand it!
And the cat sisters clamour for cat grass!
They haven't had any for about a week, and when they saw the grass in my hand, they were bursting with anticipation and excitement!

Cat magnet's calling
Snowy likes to join me in bed at some point in the middle of the night, while Coco will join me in bed only if uncle S is not also on the (master) bed. Whenever I sleep in the spare room's single bed, I will end up with 2 cats in the same bed - Snowy on the edge of the bed right next to my feet, and Coco beside me in her cat bed.
Last night, I slept in the single bed again (coz uncle S was snoring), and as soon as I had my blanket on, Coco immediately headed straight for my blanket and plonked herself in between my bent legs which kind of formed a comfortable "bucket" for her to sleep on. Sometime in the mid of night, Snowy came to snuggle with us too, so we ended up with 2 very warm, closely-snuggled cats in the "bucket" of my legs. :P
As a result, I could not toss and turn freely all night. Maybe that's why I'm feeling so tired today.

Wash day caper
Coco couldn't care less about the plastic cat repellent.
Snowy wouldn't go to sleep unless she gets to lie down on her favourite corner of the sofa, and it has to the be 3-seater sofa, the other 2-seater won't do!
After I laid the cushion pad and allowed her to rest on it, she finally started to doze off.
And Coco decides to sleep on the sofa frame as well.
The miserable thing was that after washing and drying, one of the sofa covers turn "dirty-looking". I wonder could it be the detergent used? Maybe it's time to stop buying the detergent powder imported from a close neighbouring country. I shall have to wash the cover again next weekend. :-\

On a lazy Sunday
They got to eat lots of cat treats today, both the cod fish treats and the ikan bilis treats. Our cycling friend dropped by at our place after doing the morning cycle with uncle S, and we had to bribe the cats out of hiding with cat treats and more treats! After that, they didn't hide anymore, but neither did they wish to be in the same room as our friend, just to play safe, I suppose.
Slideshow - Sunday is for napping
Song: Stars are Blind by Paris Hilton (just for the camp factor ;) )
Snowy has reached her ideal weight, or rather, what her pet human think is her ideal weight! She's now at 3.8kg, so she doesn't have to diet anymore, just normal maintenance will do. Coco, on the other hand, needs to eat much more. As it is, she's eating a lot more than Snowy, and yet it takes quite an effort just to keep her weight stable. How lucky for her if she's a human girl...won't grow fat!

Perfect cat.................not!
If we'd used a porcelain plate, it would have broken into pieces and caused a bigger mess. I carried Snowy to the crime scene to give her a scolding and showed her the cane. For all I know, it could all be in vain, as she's not the smart one among the cat sisters.
Eh, sorry ah dear readers, for smashing your image of Snowy as the perfect cat! I think the perfect cat is a myth. Hmm....or maybe, just maybe, Sanju could be the perfect cat? Too bad I didn't get a chance to foster him long enough to find out.

Stressed
(Cat design from www.teezz.co.uk)
I haven't been blogging, as the past week had been crazy for me. Even then, I guess I won't have much to blog about, since the cat sisters have settled into a very predictable routine, although every now and then, something out of the ordinary will happen, like Coco chattering in the middle of the night at the odd cockroach or lizard, or Snowy trying to increase her fibre intake by chewing the rug.
Coco still get very crazy whenever she sees cat grass, and will wail non-stop until I give her some. She can't possibly expect me to plant fresh crops of grass all the time, can she? Everything, if done too much or too often, becomes tiring.
Yesterday, the cats had their shower. It's been a long time since they last had one. Snowy was given a shower when she stayed briefly with the ex-trial adopters, but then she came back not smelling the same, nor feeling the same. I think those folks did not use a conditioner, hence Snowy's coat didn't feel as smooth. I used a flea & tick shampoo with a built-in conditioner. It smells great too!
The good thing is Snowy's weight has dropped to 3.9kg, from her all time high of 4.2kg. I intend to maintain her diet for a while, and hope that she gains a more slender and graceful shape. Despite the lower food consumption, she sometimes still have this habit of pooing twice a day, even if it was just a small dollop of poo at a time. *Roll eyes!*
In other news, can you imagine if you were me, and one day you received an email from your colleague who tells you that: I read auntie p's blog...auntie p is my colleague! Hahaha!
What a discovery! It was a shock to discover that my colleague actually reads my cat blog, not to mentioned she's found out about my other secret life (of blogging about foster cats)!
:pp
Anyway, this colleague of mine has 3 lovely adopted/rescued cats of her own, 2 of which were featured in yesterday's Sunday Times.

Smart cats learn fast
Maybe she was afraid that whenever a stranger comes to our home, one of the cats will be taken away? I can only postulate.

Cat says: Think out of the Box
We humans have certain ways of doing things according to our logic (hopefully) and preferences. However, the cats at home may tell you otherwise and want to do things THEIR way! Some examples are:
#1 : Cats always like to sleep at inappropriate places that the humans disagree with, like on uncle S' computer keyboard.
#2 : This new brush was meant to replace the old one which I'd used to scrub the cat litter box. Coco fell in love with it and only want to be combed with it, so now there is cat hair stucked within the brush. Do I still use it for scrubbing?
#3: The kitchen, being the most dangerous place in the home, should be off limits to cats, but Snowy loves to hang around there (got access to food) and right at spot which blocks my access to the sink.
I should tell her that : 好狗不挡路! Neither does a 好猫!

What's new, kitty cats?
A few days before Snowy's ordeal (i.e. the trial adoption), the cat sisters at home, as usual.
Coco had to be alone for a few days while Snowy was gone. Did she miss snuggling up with Snowy?
She got to have free-flow of kibbles, and for unknown reasons, she become more affectionate with us, more vocal and more responsive, even to uncle S.
The night of their reunion.
Soon, everything was back to normal, as if the trial adoption never happened.
It's back to hanging around together, as usual.
Coco has resumed her normal behaviour, being less affectionate or vocal or responsive, as compared to during Snowy's absence. We would never know why.

Shocking Expose!! Never-seen-before footage!!!
Never-seen-before behaviour captured at ex-trial adopters' home! It's sensational ! ;-p
This is a hidden side of Snowy that we've never encountered at home or known to exist. She'd actually snarled and hissed at a kitten younger than herself!
Don't you mess with me! I'm the 大姐大 (big sister) in this house, you hear?

Snowy is a bully !?!
I called the papa adopter to check on Snowy. The story is that their first cat started becoming friendly with Snowy (by rolling about in front of Snowy), yet Snowy kept hissing at her and had to be separated (she really knows how to 吊起来卖!). The timing is bad because adopters are busy with work now, yet could not get a good 2 nights' sleep because Snowy kept meowing at night. Adopters are also leaving for an overseas trip soon, so the fatigue of not getting enough sleep, coupled with pre-trip anxiety might have contributed to their eagerness to return Snowy to us, so that once and for all, their lives could return to normal. Papa adopter also suggested that I rehome Snowy to a single-cat household. He also said Snowy did not eat a lot (contrary to what I'd told them), but took small bites of food and walked away.
The fact that Snowy has become the aggressor and the fact that she eats very little - both are shocking to me and the SO! When Snowy comes back, we must ask her if she has multiple personality disorder. And if she eats very little in our home, then it's time for us to buy the lottery! :p
*Sigh...*

Snowy's update
They left home after leaving Snowy on the sofa, and when mama came back a few hours later, Snowy was still sitting on the sofa, shivering... hahaha the poor timid gal! Luckily, Snowy is comfortable with her new parents, although she hasn't eaten, drank, or used the litter tray yet. I've asked papa to give her some of her favourite Fussie Cat wet food which I had passed to them. Perhaps it's a good chance for Snowy to shed a bit of weight, but I can bet she won't be starving herself for long. I just hope the two cats will become friends soon.
I do miss Snowy, and miss patting and carrying her bak bak body in my arms, but overall, we're happy that she's adopted by folks who are cat lovers. The delight on their faces while they played with Snowy yesterday was unmistakable. Meanwhile, Coco is getting extra doses of TLC from uncle S and me, as well as extra cat treats and cat grass on demand. Heheh!
Hmm... my mind is kinda blank now

Hmm... my mind is kinda blank now
I just hope the introduction will go well, and I wish them patience and good luck!
Ps: we knew we have to manage our own emotions whenever a foster cat gets adopted, but what we hadn't reckoned this time was that we have to deal with the "sort-of guilt" of having to separate Coco from her sister/pal. Coco almost broke uncle S' heart when she went around the flat meowing loudly for Snowy (while I was downstairs catching a cab for the couple).

About last night
Before I could shut my eyes and go back to sleep, Snowy, who had been sleeping near my feet all this while, became attracted to my blanket (which is always a cat magnet). The clever gal decided to snuggle herself on my flabby tummy, with her back leaning against my bolster (which was right next to my body). That was just the perfect spot for her to sleep, but which meant I couldn't move if I didn't want to disturb her.
And that was how we slept on until morning comes, with a 4+kg cat floating up and down my tummy in tandem with my breathing, while my right hand held onto the bolster tightly.
