The ingrate

Although I like cats, I've never like sticky cats, i.e. those cats that are so needy and wants human attention all the time. I remember one particularly sticky cat that I'd met years' ago at Metta Cattery...I think his name was Ruyi, a male grey tabby kitten. He would stick to my foot and would not leave it further than 25cm away. He was like chewy gum that got stuck on the undersole of the shoe. Thankfully, Ruyi got adopted soon after.

On the home front, it turns out that Coco is quite a sticky cat, although not all the time, but more like 65% of the time when we're at home, and she constantly wants my attention. She was not quite like this previously, so we wonder... Maybe I've been pandering to her too much, that she thinks she can climb over our heads, or more likely, uncle S' head. She's showed hints of aggressive behaviour, like slapping my face when I gave her a lecture for bad behaviour while lying on the bed (luckily I was wearing my glasses then), and growling at / scolding uncle S a couple of times when all he did was talked to her.

We have in mind, at least two lovely community cats out there that need homes which we would consider taking care of when they get sick or old. They are cats that have experienced the tough life, and would love to live in a home. Yet, here we have at home, an ingrate who's living in the lap of luxury (so to speak), and still behaves badly. Tsk...tsk...

The world is really unfair, and perhaps some ingrates really need to be taught a lesson.

Sorry to hear that you are upset with Coco.

How about tapping on her nose or ear when she was naughty, to tell her that the behaviour is unacceptable?

She is seeking attention because she is alone at home for at least 10 hours a day. My KK is also like that. Keeps meowing the whole night when we are home to persuade us to sit beside her or pat her while she suckles. Sometimes damn irritating when all I want is some peace and quiet.

And don't say she's an ingrate. :) She does not know there are other cats suffering outside mah.

Coco needs a companion. Maybe a small boy cat.

I too, thinks Coco needs a playmate. Right now, you guys need to have alot of patience with her.

Maybe she misses snowy. She's all alone. Ms akira would sometimes stick to me like this and would whine for attention eventhough she has 3 other cats. She would usually quieten down after I speak to her or sit with her for a bit. She just misses attention I think.

Cat aunty, thanks but that won't work. And I think we have been more than patient, EJ, so much so that Coco thinks she can bully my SO. She did it again over the weekend.

What really irks us is Coco's yelling for attention in the wee hours of the morning when we're asleep. Even after I've patted her, she would still yell at times. This is too disturbing to our sleep, and sometimes we can't get back to sleep until 1-2 hours later.

I've thought about finding another cat to keep her company, but it just means being very selfish for her sake, coz as long as I have "permanent home cats", other community cats are going to be neglected in one way or another. Furthermore, Coco must have free-choice feeding at home, so it won't be easy to find a good match, even if I want to do that.

I've never had this problem with my previous fosters even after some of them were separated. Coco must be sent to torment us. Maybe we'll just take Sugar up to our home or borrow MIL's calico to Show Coco that she's not really the queen of the house, so she'd better behave. *evil grin*

hi auntie p, i empathise with you. lilo and weiwei also meow in the wee hours of the morning, sometimes when we are playing mahjong too (mahjong mates also cannot tahan).

about coco being an ingrate, i guess cats are like humans, those who didnt 吃苦过 will always take things for granted!

i know because i have a whole bunch of ingrates at home... hehe..

ksn, one noisy ingrate is already a handful for me, I don't think I can tahan a whole bunch.

佩服, 佩服!
(kudos to you!)
