Experiment: testing catnip sensitivity with live subject

This morning, I plucked a leaf from the catnip plant, broke it slighly by peeling and placed it in front of Sugar.

Step 1: wake the sleeping cat, and place the catnip near his nose

Step 2: observe reaction of cat

Result: cat started to sniff catnip out of curiousity
(Note: cat did not bother to move his butt)

Step 3: Continue observation of subject

Result: cat seemed to show no interest & went back to sleep

Conclusion: My catnip plant is safe. Ha ha ha!

This made me laugh because I would probably have reacted the same way. I just don't do catnip. Perhaps Sugar is the same way?

Yup maybe sugar does not have the catnip gene :))But maybe its time I dig up the catnip seeds that my sister bought me. I was a little skeptical about them growing but now I see they actually can :) The amigos lurve catnip.

Not only is Sugar not sensitive to catnip, he is not really into Fancy Feast and most stinky goodness as well. I would like to try those bream flakes that San gives to her 3 amigoes, but I've yet to see them at my regular pet shops.

ksn: Heheh! Actually, I can pass you a few of them catnip plants, as they are self-generating, i.e. new shoots are popping up from the original plants.

Just make sure you keep the substance abusers away from the young shoots, then you'll have a constant supply of the happy substance. ;P
