Community cats update, etc.

I thought we had sensational weather 2 days' ago, on Tuesday. The whole day was cloudy and I didn't realise there had been a slight drizzle in the late-afternoon, until I stepped outside on my way home.

Photobucket
There was a nice ,cool breeze and the temperature felt like 23 to 34 degrees - it felt like a temperate country! The SO was somewhere else and he too, thought the same.

Photobucket
Shiny from another area, in a photo taken in mid-June. He had lost weight, and lately, is sick and has eye discharge. He is still eating lots though.

I have been missing this boy and last week, was just wondering what had happened to him, when lo and behold, he appeared before us yesterday!

Photobucket
BT has returned! He wasn't in a sociable mood, although he did come to headbutt my legs initially.

Photobucket
He has put on some weight and has a slight bulge at the tummy. Hmm...perhaps someone took him in? His coat doesn't look as smooth as before though... poor food is suspected. I hope he hasn't been thrown out now.

I went to the pet shop to get some canned food for Coco. As usual, Milky the chihuahua now knows how to seek me out, whether by the sound of my voice, my scent, or by whatever means!?!

Photobucket
Pet shop aunty said Milky only does this to 2 of her customers, and one of them is me.

Wow, I'm so honoured! She will make some odd noise until I stroke and carry her, and she will give me her specialty - doggie licks! I love to see her, as she 's so small, round and cute, just like a small roll of honey-baked ham. Best of all, she makes me feel so well-loved. :D

Photobucket
Here's Mimi Tortie Gal, happily being cuddled in the arms of her Singapore Idol... purring away like an engine.

Photobucket
Here's Tabby2 aka Azmi, being held against his/her wishes. All along, we'd thought he's a boy, but recently, we realised he/she really has got totally "no balls", so the SO suspect maybe he's a she!

Haha! Just like we've always thought Shiny was a she (due to the small size), until one day, we realised maybe Shiny is a he! Anyhow, it doesn't matter. We still treat them the same.

Tabby2 talks...

You know what, I've been called all kinds of names by different aunties and uncles. Some call me Tabby and another call me Tommy, but recently, I have gained a new name.

My new name is Azmi!

Photobucket
Yes, no kidding!

Azmi is my new name given to me by my friend. He is a policeman, you know, so if you don't believe me, you can talk to him at the police station.

Saturday morning excitement

When we went to see the cats this morning, this was the sight that greeted us.

Photobucket

Oops! Kiddy and Mimi (b/w) aren't supposed to be in this territory!

They must have been a little displaced by the funeral wake that is happening at their block. There have been too many wakes for the last few days - two are currently still on, with another which just ended 2 days' ago - all next to one another.

A confrontasi was about to start!!

Photobucket
From what I know of them, Tabby2 and Kiddy are generally peaceful cats. I have never seen either one of them fighting, but cats being cats, when threatened, must show some "action" to ward of possible enemies.

I didn't know what had taken place earlier, but by the time I got to them, I heard Kiddy starting to hiss loudly, with hair and tail all puffed up!

The not-to-be-defeated Tabby also started vogue-ing in his "acting-bigger-than-I-really-am" pose and growled back, although he still gave me his wide-eyed innocent look when I pose my hp camera at him. Haha!

Photobucket

Meanwhile, the bystanders, aka Tortie Gal Mimi and Blackie were keeping quiet and watching by the sidelines. TG Mimi even ate her "popcorn" before the drama had begun.

Kiddy's sidekick, the b/w Mimi still pounced about towards us, totally nonchalant about the going-ons.

Photobucket

I sayang Kiddy and he started to walk away, still growling. Mimi the sidekick quickly followed her leader.

At last, confrontation averted~!

Community cats update

During the week, I finally saw two rather elusive cats, which I haven't seen for more than a week.

Sugar - He doesn't hang out as much at his regular place. Ms A the caregiver thinks he's hiding from her, to avoid taking medication!

Photobucket
He seemed hungry and came to me, wanting food. I gave him the only dry food I have, and he ate a bit. I tried to clean the debris on his chin, next to his mouth. He'd refused and ran a few feet away. When I persisted, he suddenly cried and jumped/ran off. I think his gums are still hurting.

Photobucket
It took some effort, but I finally coaxed him to stop running away from me, so that I can placate him and say sorry, and sayang-ed the poor boy a bit.

Saw him on another day when I came home after work. I thought wet food would be easier on his gums and have resorted to carrying a can in my work bag, but he refused to eat.

Photobucket

He just laid on the cool grass while I patted him, resting. He seemed like very fatigued and looked kind of down. When the SO came back after his swim, I asked him to go look for Sugar to sayang him, which kind of cheered Sugar up a bit, as he had begun purring.

Photobucket
After dinner, I went to look for him. After playing hide & seek with me for a while, he finally came near me and let me be near him. He didn't want any food, so we both sat there in the cool evening breeze for a while. He did act manja and rolled on the floor for some sayang, so I hope he'd felt better. I saw him again tonight, and again he refused the wet food, and ate a few kibbles. Also saw Jon-Jon tonight... he has slimmed down a little, although he ate normally this evening (not so picky, at least!).

Mimi - I have no idea where Mimi hangs out during the day, but finally saw her a few nights' ago and again, tonight.

Photobucket

She's grown longer, but her face is still kitten-ish. The fur has grown back on the shaved patch on her lower tummy. She's healed well from her spaying.

Photobucket

Tabby2 - went to feed him some wet food this evening, and saw a patch of dried leaf stuck onto his rump.

Photobucket
It was chewed up gum. I tried to remove it as much as I could, but it was impossible to remove it all without cutting off the fur. So I stuck a small piece of tissue onto whatever gum that remained stuck on him... will see if I can remove more of it tomorrow.

Throughout the process, the affectionate boy didn't protest at all, but kept purring and started kneading...so happy with all the attention from me. :)

Community cats on Saturday

Sugar occupying a box in another territory. I believe the box is meant for Kiddy or Mimi, not him!

Photobucket

Tortie gal

Photobucket

Tabby2, who would look up every time he hears the hp camera's focusing sound, so cute!

Photobucket

He's actually very fat and out of shape, but he's very affectionate and loveable.

Photobucket

Tabby2 and Tortie gal

Photobucket
Tortie gal is the very jealous and garang one who will throw her weight about the male kitties in the area.
Tabby2 is capable of retaliation but chose to be the gentleman cat. :)

Introducing the gentlemanly Tabby2

I'd first mentioned Tabby2 in a post about Tortie, who had somehow usurped Tabby2's territory some months ago. Tabby2 being the gentlemen, must be humouring Tortie all this while.

Anyway, the good news is that both are on friendly terms now, so fights and arguments are a thing of the past.

Tabby2 the ticked tabby, looking ordinary...

But if you take a closer look, he is actually a handsome boy, don't you think? :-)

PS: I forgot to mention that Tabby2 is also a buddy of Fatty Blackie; both even look like siblings and have the same gentle temperament.

Tortie is a beauty

Don't mess with me!

Tee Hee... no one can resist my charming looks and sweet voice.

Despite suffering a big wound (possibly a bite wound) on her right rump a couple of months' back, Tortie the community cat (and a fan of uncle S) seemed none the worse for it. The wound has healed nicely and the hair had grown over the patch.

She is a smart cat and can recognise uncle S and me (or is it 'I' ?) by sight. Despite her small size, she dared to "scare" the bigger male cats that have been around much longer than she has. Such is the naiveté of the young ones. In fact, she has "choped" or taken over the territory that used to belong to Tabby2, one of my favourite male community cat.

Tabby2 is quite the noble gentleman to tolerate such nonsense from Tortie. However, when push comes to shove, cool cat Tabby2 will not hesitate to show his clout, as I had seen him do to another pushy female cat. I must remember to take more photos of handsome (albeit plump) Tabby2 next time.

Tortie develops affinity for uncle S
